Ontario Life course requirements are set by the FSCO. The FSCO does not review individual courses, but they do stipulate that the courses must be of a technical insurance nature, and all Insurancelink technical courses have been specifically reviewed by Insurancelink to ensure they are suitable for credit with the FSCO in Ontario.
The FSCO gives examples of "technical" courses and we ensure that we meet those requirements. Since we started operations in 2004 we have not had a single issue with Ontario customers not receiving credit for CE courses taken from insurancelink.ca. Quite the contrary, we often receive emails from our customers telling us how convenient our services are, and how much they liked taking our courses for credit versus the alternative of traditional in-person seminars.
Ontario Life agents typically require 15 credits/year, however many of our customers are looking to earn 30 credits since the reporting period is only every two years. At the present time you can get all your annual requirements from insurancelink.ca, and most of your two-year requirements. For the cost of a single in-person course you can get the majority of your credits online from us.
Structure of Group Benefits Plans
This course discusses the overall structure of group insurance and group benefits plans. The course starts with an overview of the history of group benefits, then discusses parties involved in group benefits and some legal ramifications. Following the legal discussion, the taxation of group benefits are discussed, and finally, the course closes by looking at examples of typical group benefits policies, from the life component to drug benefits and so on. This is a technical course suitable for credit in all provinces (course code #ins122), and will be particularly useful for life insurance professionals. Pending approval by the AIC in Alberta and by RIBO for Ontario general insurance professionals.
